Playlist of My Life
In our senior seminar class, we were tasked with making a playlist to summarize our life. This playlist had to contain 12 - 15 tracks with one to two sentences explaining why each song is important to me and what memory it is attached to. This was a fun, independent project we had a week to complete. I used my communication skill in my writing and through media (music) to share with my peers songs that are important to me. I am most proud of the actual final product of this assignment. The playlist was enjoyable to create, and the descriptions allowed me to reflect on how much I have grown and changed as a person. I am satisfied with the songs I put in my playlist. I practiced my communication skill through not only writing but through music which is not something I have done before. It is important for me to use my communication skills in all forms, verbally and non-verbally (writing and media) in all areas of my life. At first it was a bit difficult to decide which songs I wanted on my playlist. Especially songs from when I was 10 and younger that meant a lot to me. If I could do this assignment again, I would have liked to spend more time choosing the songs. Although I did pick enough, I felt that there were a few songs that could have been switched out for others that had more of an impact. This assignment will help me in the future with personal projects or other tasks I may be given in a work or school setting to create something that shows a part of who I am.
Track #1 - Cool Kids by Echosmith
When I was in elementary school this was one of my favorite songs ever. I would replay it and dance to it til I could not move anymore. I’m not too sure if I resonated with the lyrics but I will admit I was a bit weird and funny as a kid and maybe I did want to be like the cool kids. Track #2 - Diamonds by Rihanna This song used to play every Friday at the skate rink around 2014. Whenever it would come on I would speed up and run laps around everyone, it's like the song boosted me. Track #3 - No Le Contestes by Vf7 My sister, mom and I really enjoy this song because of the singer’s Puerto Rican accent. She is a 16 year old queer artist who I find very cool! Track #4 - Ay, Dios Mio! by Karol G This was one of my favorite reggaeton songs in middle school. I would always watch the music video and sing along. Track #5 - Pursuit Of Happiness by Kid Cudi This song reminds me of me and my best friend the summer before freshman year. We loved listening to new music together, especially rap and RnB. We sadly had a falling out but I still think of her everytime I listen to Kid Cudi. Track # 6 - Care by Beabadoobee This song reminds me of my last crush. I really liked them but I wasn't sure if they cared about me the way I cared about them so I listened to this song quite often because I resonated with the lyrics. Track #7 - Sofia by Clairo This song is one of the few by Clairo that really gets me pumped. I listened to it 2 years ago for the first time with my sister on our bed and that's when we discovered we both really liked Clairo. Track #8 - The Spins by Mac Miller I love Mac Miller and this is the title track of his debut album. I have many memories attached to this song but my favorite memory is playing basketball to this song. Track #9 - Strings by Iyla I was obsessed with this song last January. If I had to describe my music taste in one song I think I would pick this song. A memory attached to this song is walking around in Portland, Oregon with this blasting in my headphone while I mouth all the lyrics. Track #10 - Sky Walker by Miguel (ft. Travis Scott) This song reminds me of summer in 2021. My friend would always play this song on our way to the beach, at the beach, and on the way home from the beach. We spent the whole summer tanning and swimming at bigs. Track #11 - Little Dark Age by MGMT This song was my favorite in the beginning of high school. I had just started my vinyl collection and I waited MONTHS for this album to be available on vinyl so I could add it to my collection. Track #12 - Ghost Town by Kanye West, PARTYNEXTDOOR This song reminds me of cruising in San Antonio with my older cousins. They are obsessed with Kanye so we would play his music all the time while hanging out without our parents. Track #13 - Moongch! by Daul, Sumin This song reminds me of the first day of senior year. I played it all morning while getting my outfit ready. It is a poppy and fun song. |
