ENG 100 Research Paper
In the second quarter I had to write a final research paper for my ENG 100 class which was supposed to sum up all the skills we had built to write a thorough paper. I decided to research about the American education system and compare it to past systems, alternate systems, and other education systems used in other countries. I spent 2-3 weeks researching and writing drafts for my professor to advise. The topics I touched were how the current system (Common Core) we have in place works, what the scores and health of American students are like compared to international students, international education systems, specifically China, Finland, and Canada. One of the 21st century skills I used for this assignment was my global awareness skill. Through this assignment I learned about other country's study cultures and school customs. It was very intriguing learning about their school systems and even the different mindsets of their students.

I've done assignment similar assignments when I've looked into a specific country's economy, schools, foods, etc., but this is my first time learning about their education systems in a detailed way. It made me more aware of peers my age around the world, how they are taught and what their values are. It was a bit difficult researching so much information and only picking out the most significant details, but I'm proud with the topics I covered in my essay. If I could do this assignment again I would have fixed my final draft at least one more time. Towards the end there were still a few pieces my professor told me to revise but I decided to keep it as it was, I would've liked to clean it up a bit more. This relates to my future because one day, if possible, I would love to travel and study abroad. I've been interested in South Korea lately and reading about the school systems in Asia have given me a peak into what being a student there would be like.
