Coding
For about two weeks we did coding in class everyday through Code.org. During that time we completed 16 lessons of CSD Unit 3 - Interactive Animations and Games. We had mini milestones throughout the few weeks we worked. With javascript we animated images and created interactive games. Each lesson had an average of 10 steps that guided you to learning one new skill. I completed around 2-3 lesson every session. My favorite lesson was lesson 16, in this lesson we explored ways to use conditional statements to take user input and several ways to take mouse input.
I chose to show this because I really enjoyed the time I spent coding and creating through javascript. I've always shown interest in coding and computer programming, so the two weeks we spent doing exactly that was very entertaining for me. I completed the assignment earlier than the due date because I was working on the lessons outside of school due to how much I enjoyed it. I also really like this way of learning, the kind where you don't have to check in with someone and your progress and improvement is independent and your responsible for your own work.

The 21st century skills I used were my thinking and problem solving and information skills. With my information skills I grasped the new data that was being given to me every lesson and put my knowledge to the test with the small activities. The thing with coding is even the smallest details matter so forgetting a fact or detail is not really an option. And with my thinking and problem solving skills if I did miss something I had to try solve or find out how to fix my error. At times it did get stressful but I was always able to walk back through my steps and find the mistake.
This shows my growth as a student because of my ability to set goals for myself and spend my own time to work on an assignment I'm passionate about. With this assignment I was challenged with my thinking skills and patience, at times the steps were hard and I didn't understand what I was supposed to do or how to do it. But, by persevering through the problem I was able to get great results on the program, sort of felt like a breakthrough. With this assignment I was able to showcase my interest in computer languages and programming.
As for what I could work on, I did get through the assignment pretty quickly but it resulted in me not fully comprehending all the little details; I often had to visit past lesson to refresh myself on what I had done 30 minutes ago. If I could do this assignment I would take a little more time to really grasp the topic and skills the lesson was trying to teach me. I would like to continue working on code.org, as it is something I see myself using in my future and an activity I find fun.
