Life Hack: Expert Presentation
In junior seminar we have been learning different life skills and doing “build a life” projects that are supposed to help us in the future. For this assignment though instead of researching a skill and sharing it with our class we had to present something we were already knowledgeable about. Our export presentation was supposed to teach our peers a skill they may need in the future. I decided to talk about weekly fitness and just creating room in your schedule for activities. I’ve been an active kid since 4th grade so I know how to organize time for fitness and healthy movement throughout a week. I organized everything into steps and created a slideshow to present to my class. I went into detail on the benefits of frequent exercise, how to work with different schedules, which workouts will work best for an individual, and lastly, preparing and committing to being consistent with exercise. One of the skills I feel I used was financial, business and economic literacy because I included different financial restraints that may occur for exercise. For example, I went over different fitness plans that don’t involve a gym membership or transportation. Through this I presented my skills and knowledge of finance and the economic classes. I am most proud of the topic I chose. In the beginning of the assignment I was at a crossroad deciding what skill I wanted to share with my classmates. Luckily I ended up choosing something I’m really passionate about and confident in sharing my knowledge. It was difficult at first to use my business, finance, and economic literacy skill because I have access to a gym and transportation. I don't have to worry about finance when it comes to being active. I had to think deeply and create plans that work without those two things.
Like my new state fish assignment I was indecisive when deciding what topic to present. Luckily Coach Cassie helped me choose something I was knowledgeable about but was also excited to present to my class.
If I could do this assignment again I would add pictures. I wrote all the information and covered everything in my presentation that I wanted to but I did not leave myself time to add pictures of exercise. Because I did not have pictures my presentation was a bit bland and probably did not keep my audience as engaged as I could. I did do one presentation in middle school about how to cook french toast but besides that I haven’t done many projects that revolve around skills I have already gained. Sharing my knowledge and information with my peers will definitely be something I will need to do in the future for school and work.
