I was introduced to peer mediation in 6th grade when I had a disagreement with one of my classmates. It was a great experience and left me contempt with the end result; the meeting was very effective. In 8th grade I joined the Social Justice Club and worked as a peer mediator with other students. I went through training for a few weeks and then began helping others with their conflicts. Another mediator and I would work together and talk with the participants to find a win-win solution to their problem. I learned a lot from that year. Freshman year I was not able to participate as much due to the pandemic. Luckily, the fourth quarter of freshman year I was able to return and join online meetings and continue to participate in the club. I hope to continue to be part of this community all the way through high school.
